FOUNDATIONS – The key to achieving a flawless base.

Hello my loves, welcome back and I hope you are all well.

Today, in my first real blog post I would like to discuss the main part of our makeup routines; foundation.

Foundation is our base for makeup because that is applied all over the face. If your base is no good, your eyeliner can be winged and sharp, your lashes can be long and voluminous, your contour can be on point and that highlight can be popping but it will never have an ideal finish without the right base.

Foundation doesn’t have to be heavy and completely flawless, I know that’s not everyone’s ideal look. Some people prefer skin-like natural foundation. That’s cool.

I have put a picture up of my top foundations in order of most favourite and will talk about each one with a bit of my thoughts on it, the shade I use and where they can be purchased from. *Please note, my skin type is combination. I have normal-dry skin with an oily t-zone. All these foundations suit my skin type and I will talk about which skin types they are better for as well.*

  1. Too faced – Born this way foundation

Shade: Warm Beige

Coverage: Medium (can be made full or light when used more or less)

This is my holy grail foundation! I can’t imagine my life without it. This is a foundation you can get the best of both worlds with. You can achieve a full flawless face with it and you can keep it natural and skin-like by applying less. It has a really light consistency which is so nice because even with a full face of foundation you never feel you have anything on your skin. This foundation can be purchased from some Debenhams stores (mine was purchased from the White City – Westfield store.) I think this foundation is good for anyone with dry or combination skin. I don’t personally think it’ll suit oily skin types but if you guys wanna try it, maybe ask for a sample at the counter and test it first.

2. Nars Sheer Glow foundation

Shade: Stromboli

Coverage: Medium-Full

This foundation is great but I personally do not use it much because it’s more heavier than I would like. I love the finish of it however and think it’s great for when you’re going out at night/to a party as it gives you a really even finish. I think this foundation is definitely good for all skin types. But if you have very dry skin this might be too drying for you. This can be purchased from House of Fraser.

3. Maybelline fit me foundation

Shade: 220

Coverage: Light-Medium

I LOVE this foundation. This is like a drugstore and less coverage version of my Too Faced foundation. I think that says it all. It does have a more matte finish though. Good for all skin types. Although it’s a matte finish foundation it’s not drying so suits dry skin types too! This can be purchased from Superdrug/Boots.

4. Loreal lumi magique foundation

Shade: Gold Linen W3

 Coverage: Light-Medium

This is such a nice drugstore foundation. It has a natural finish and is so nice an dewy. Definitely a great every day foundation! This will suit all skin types but definitely better for dry or combination skin types. It can be purchased from Superdrug/Boots as well.

5. NYX studio photogenic foundation

Shade: Warm Sand (This is darker than my skin but was purchased in the summer when I was tanned.)

This is an amazing drugstore foundation if you’re looking for something with full coverage. I would say the coverage is medium but can be built up to full. It’s an affordable foundation if you’re looking for something with a better coverage! This can be purchased from Boots only.

So that is all for today, thank you for reading and I hope you all learnt something new. Have you followed my blog yet? You will receive an email notification every time I put a new post up. You’ll never have to miss a thing!

Yours truly,

Avziee
